The Rossbrand - our most famous mountain

The Rossbrand (1,768 m) is justifiably regarded as one of the most beautiful and scenic mountains in the Eastern Alps. From atop the summit, people can enjoy 360° panoramas of almost 150 striking Alpine peaks: from the Dachstein in the north, to the Tennengebirge, Hagengebirge and Grossglockner, all the way to the Radstädter and Schladminger Tauern - the splendour of the Alps as far as the eye can see. Werfen’s World of Ice Giants

The biggest ice cave on Earth is only 30km from Radstadt. Discover a wonder of nature. In its giant ice galleries, you can gaze in awe at some of the world’s most magnificent ice formations. The entire cave system extends out for around 42km, while a portion of that has been opened to the public for guided tours.

Open-Air Museum, Grossgmain

Fans of rural architecture and lovers of earlier eras, will find their very own El Dorado right here. 60 original farm buildings, collected from across the SalzburgerLand, may be viewed here under the open skies. The buildings were dismantled at their original sites, renovated and then rebuilt faithful to the original. Barely one hour’s drive away.

Tauern Power Stations, Kaprun

A trip to the high mountain lakes of Kaprun is a fascinating journey into the mountains. The fresh air, the pastures, the turquoise waters of the lakes and glaciers of the Hohe Tauern are intense impressions.
The ramp to get to the lakes beginns at the "Kesselfall-Alpenhaus" in the rear part of the valley. Modern buses will bring you through stone tunnel to the Lärchwand-lift. Experience-world electricity and ice - between the Mooserboden and the Dross-dam lies the "Power & Ice Experience," in which you are informed about the world of glaciers and the history. Grossglockner and the High-Alpine Road

The Grossglockner, at 3,798 m the highest mountain in Austria, forms the border between the provinces of Salzburg, East Tyrol and Carinthia, and is an important part of the Hohe Tauern National Park. The High-Alpine Road, opened in 1935, is an exciting experience for everyone.
